Our Creative Arts activities invite youth to participate in their desired activity of choice. They get to develop new skills and build upon existing skills that enforce creativity, confidence and resilience.

CREATIVE ARTS

WEDNESDAY + FRIDAY 6 TO 9 PM

6:00 PM

DOORS OPEN

Youth are then invited to join us in the gymnasium for ice breakers and time to decompress from the day. 

6:30 PM

CIRCLE UP 

As a community center we have always strived to provide a safe, and judgement free environment to all who come through our doors. If you come in to join us for an evening, in the beginning of the night you will find our youth circled up with our staff, role models and mentors connecting with one another on what we do here at the Austin17House.

We also make it a priority to go over our agreements which state:

7:30 PM

DINNER

Cooking and eating meals together is one of the most important times at Austin17House. Our youth, volunteers and mentors work together to plan, prepare and provide meals for anyone who joins us for Creative Arts 

8:00 PM

CHORES

Our house is your house. Everyone chips in and helps clean up the space. 

8:15 TO 9:00 PM

YOUTH'S CHOICE + PICK UP

Youth are invited to  head back to their program of choice or hang out in the gymnasium for recreation activities.

(Youth can be picked up during this time)

SHOP CLASS

Our shop classes partners youth with mentors in wood and metal working. 

Mentors work alongside youth to

design, build and create!

Youth will work with power pools, machines, black smithing equipment and more to make visions become realities.

GENERAL PERMISSION SLIP

 To ensure that the youth have a safe environment to enjoy, we ask that you please fill out as much information on this waiver as you can so that we can better serve you and your child. 

Creative Arts Annual Showcase

Our Bi-Annual Showcases is a time where our youth, peer role models and mentors get to showcase their gifts to the community!

Throughout the year youth are invited to participate in our Creative Arts and Life Skills Development programs to develop new skills that enforce creativity, confidence and resilience! Youth practice their skills and are then invited to showcase their gift to others.
